Artist Statement
I am a multidisciplinary teaching artist with a primary focus on harnessing sound, language, and visual elements as conduits for connection to self, ancestors, and the symbioment.
Music is my primary realm of artistic expression, and, like Edan, “my favorite color is math.” I often use polyrhythm, odd meters, and mixed meters combined with soulful vocals and subtle harmonic dissonance to entice the listener into a space between genres and out of common time.
Conceptually, my work seeks to find the meeting place between the cerebral, the emotional, the unexplained, and the strange. I draw from a vast web of interests and am deeply committed to a practice of self reflection and intuitive work that keeps me grounded and aligned with my purpose. For me, connection is the central force that propels and guides my creation.
